This test is used to track the diabetes. Diabetes patients should have this test every 2–3 months or more frequently if it is not maintained.

The postprandial blood glucose test is performed two hours after having food, to see the body's response to a glucose post - meal. This test is not used to diagnose diabetes.

No special preparation is needed.

The person availing the test should consume the meal exactly 2 hours before the blood sample is taken. After the meal, don't eat anything else before having the test. Abstain from physical activities of all sorts during the two-hour waiting period as it may increase blood sugar level. Therefore, it is better to be at rest during the waiting period. Also, inform the doctor about all the medicines and supplements one is taking, before the test.
