Women expecting a child can take a blood test called the maternal screening test to check for certain diseases. In the third trimester of pregnancy, an ultrasound and third trimester of pregnancy Seemapuri may be performed. The first-trimester screening battery includes these double marker Seemapuri, while in the third trimester quadruple marker Seemapuri is performed. Pregnancies at risk for Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and Edward syndrome can be detected with the combined first-dual marker Seemapuri (trisomy 18). Pregnancies at high risk for Down syndrome, Edward syndrome, or neural tube defects can be detected using a maternal serum screening Seemapuri administered in the second trimester.
